Hostinger is best known for cheap shared hosting, but it also sells KVM virtual private servers: you get your own virtual machine with full root access, AMD EPYC processors and NVMe storage, and you run the server yourself. The headline prices start at $6.49 a month, and each plan states the higher rate it renews at.
This review covers the four KVM plans, what they cost after the first term, what the plans include, how the price compares with other VPS hosts and who should choose Hostinger. For the wider market, see our VPS hosting comparison. If you are not sure you need a VPS at all, read what a VPS is and our Hostinger shared hosting review first.
The short version: Hostinger VPS is a good-value, self-managed VPS for people who are comfortable with a Linux server and want the AI tools and the familiar Hostinger dashboard. KVM 2 (2 vCPU, 8GB of RAM and 100GB of NVMe for $8.99 a month) is the plan most people should look at. It is cheaper than most VPS hosts we reviewed, but Contabo gives more resources per dollar, and every Hostinger price is a prepaid term that renews at 1.7 to 2.2 times the intro rate.

| Hardware | AMD EPYC processors, NVMe SSD storage, 1 Gbps network |
| Price | $6.49 to $25.99 a month on the intro rate; renews at $11.99 to $49.99 "for 2 years", cancel anytime |
| Billing | All plans are paid upfront; the monthly rate is the total divided by the months in the plan |
| Included | Free weekly backups, firewall management, DDoS filtering, public API, free domain for 1 year |
| Locations | 10 data centers on 4 continents, and you can change location later |
| Refund | 30-day money-back guarantee |
💰 The four KVM plans
| Plan | Resources | Intro price | Renews at | Renewal multiple |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| KVM 1 | 1 vCPU, 4GB RAM, 50GB NVMe, 4TB bandwidth | $6.49/mo (67% off $19.49) | $11.99/mo | 1.8x |
| KVM 2 (most popular) | 2 vCPU, 8GB RAM, 100GB NVMe, 8TB bandwidth | $8.99/mo (63% off $24.49) | $14.99/mo | 1.7x |
| KVM 4 | 4 vCPU, 16GB RAM, 200GB NVMe, 16TB bandwidth | $12.99/mo (70% off $42.99) | $28.99/mo | 2.2x |
| KVM 8 | 8 vCPU, 32GB RAM, 400GB NVMe, 32TB bandwidth | $25.99/mo (65% off $73.99) | $49.99/mo | 1.9x |
Multiples are our arithmetic: $11.99 / $6.49 = 1.8, $14.99 / $8.99 = 1.7, $28.99 / $12.99 = 2.2 and $49.99 / $25.99 = 1.9. The page does not state how long the intro price lasts; read the term and the total due today at checkout.
What a year really costs
| Plan | 12 months at the intro rate | 12 months at the renewal rate | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| KVM 1 | $77.88 | $143.88 | $66.00 |
| KVM 2 | $107.88 | $179.88 | $72.00 |
| KVM 4 | $155.88 | $347.88 | $192.00 |
| KVM 8 | $311.88 | $599.88 | $288.00 |
These are 12 x the monthly rate, which is how much a year costs at each price. Because every plan is paid upfront for a term, the cash you pay today depends on the term you pick; the page says the monthly rate reflects the total plan price divided by the number of months. Taxes are extra.
🧰 What every plan includes
- Hardware: AMD EPYC processors, NVMe storage and a 1 Gbps network.
- Control: full root access, a choice of Linux distributions, control panels and preconfigured apps, and a Docker manager.
- AI tools: an AI web terminal that runs commands from natural-language prompts, the Hostinger Agent for setup and troubleshooting and a Hostinger Connector that links AI coding tools to the server.
- Security: firewall management, Wanguard DDoS filtering and a dedicated IP address on every KVM plan, according to Hostinger.
- Backups: free weekly backups and snapshots. If you publish or sell daily, add your own backup routine. See what an SSH connection lets you do on the server.
- Extras: a public API, a free domain for the first year and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
🌍 Locations
Hostinger says you can launch a VPS in 10 data centers across four continents, from Boston to Jakarta, and change location later. The page recommends a location from your visitor's country (for example Germany for visitors in Germany) and lists the United States, Germany, Lithuania, India, Malaysia and Brazil among the options. Pick the one closest to most of your visitors, and read what a data center is if you are new to the idea.
Hostinger also says every data center is matched with 100% renewable electricity. That is the company's own statement and we did not verify it.
⚖️ How it compares with other VPS hosts
We read the same kind of plan page for each provider on October 12, 2026 (Hostinger on October 18). This table lines up roughly 8GB of RAM, the size most small production sites end up on.
| Provider and plan | Resources | Price per month | Management |
|---|---|---|---|
| Contabo Cloud VPS 4 | 4 vCPU, 8GB, 100GB | $5.28 (24 months) | Unmanaged |
| Hostinger KVM 2 | 2 vCPU, 8GB, 100GB NVMe | $8.99 intro, renews $14.99 | Self-managed with AI tools |
| InterServer 4 slices | 2 cores, 8GB, 160GB SSD | $12 | You manage it |
| InMotion VPS 4 vCPU | 4 vCPU, 8GB, 160GB NVMe | $13.99 (24 months), renews $26.99 | Self-managed |
| Vultr 4 cores | 4 cores, 8GB | $48 | Unmanaged |
| Cloudways Large | 4 vCPU, 8GB, 160GB | $99 | Managed |
Read the numbers with care: the plans are not identical, intro and renewal prices are different things, and the CPU counts differ. Contabo gives the most hardware per dollar, Hostinger sits in the lower middle and the managed options cost far more because someone else runs the server. See our reviews of Contabo, InMotion VPS, InterServer VPS, UltaHost VPS, Vultr, DreamHost VPS and Cloudways.
🚀 Performance: what we could and could not verify
We did not benchmark Hostinger VPS and we found no recent independent test of it that documents its method. What we can say comes from the plan page: AMD EPYC processors, NVMe storage and a 1 Gbps network are good ingredients, and KVM virtualisation gives each server its own isolated resources. Those are specifications, not measurements. For shared hosting, WPBeginner's July 2026 test measured Hostinger well (see our Hostinger review), but that was a shared plan, not a VPS. Test your own workload during the 30-day refund window.
🛒 How to buy Hostinger VPS
- Choose the size. KVM 1 is for a small app or test server, KVM 2 for a WordPress site with real traffic or a few apps, KVM 4 and KVM 8 for databases, stores and heavier workloads.
- Choose the term and read the renewal line. Write down what the monthly rate becomes after the first term and what you pay today.
- Choose the location closest to most of your visitors.
- Choose the operating system or application. A plain Linux image for full control, an application template for a faster start, or a control panel if you prefer a dashboard.
- Set up your own backups and monitoring and test the server before the 30-day refund window ends.

🎯 Who should buy Hostinger VPS?
| You are | Our view |
|---|---|
| A developer or hobbyist who wants a cheap root server | A good fit: KVM 1 or KVM 2 |
| Outgrowing Hostinger shared hosting | A natural next step, with the same dashboard family |
| Running a WordPress site with high traffic and no server skills | Look at managed hosting such as Cloudways or Kinsta instead |
| Wanting the most hardware per dollar | Compare Contabo first |
| Needing a hands-off, fully managed server | Not the right product: this is self-managed |
Hostinger VPS is a sensible low-cost, self-managed VPS, especially KVM 2. Pick it if you can run a Linux server and like the AI tools, plan around the renewal rate and keep your own backups. If a managed service matters more than the price, or you want the most hardware per dollar, compare the other providers in our VPS comparison.
